In 1986 Roland introduced the GR-77B Bass Guitar Synthesizer. Similar in style a and function as the GR-700 guitar synthesizer, the GR-77B is a 4 voice pedal hybrid synthesizer unit based on the Roland JX-8P sound engine and has 4 processors. One for each string to facilitate fast tracking. The instrument also has 2 4 stage envelope generators and cross modulation between oscillators, frequency modulation with envelope and/or modulation.
