"1" is the fourth solo album by Arkansas musician Jackson Lafargue, and the first one using the Okhotsk moniker. The album contains a blend of ambient, drum 'n' bass and downtempo styles. After struggling to write a follow up to the last album of his indie pop project, High Plains Heat, Lafargue was asked to play at a monthly noise event at an independent venue. After feeling doubtful about his abilities to do such a show, Lafargue eventually agreed to the show and began exploring new possibilities of creating, sampling and manipulating sound. After making his live debut in December 2015 under the Okhotsk name, he spent the remainder of the winter producing the compositions that eventually ended up on 1.
