EsCaPe

The music on this album was recorded between 1988 and 1991 at Anvil Creations Studio. In the 1990s, ACS was not distributing music, so a cassette was released on Ron Wallace's CMC (Creative Musicians Coalition) MDN (Music Discovery Network) in the AfterTouch catalog [Vol. 7/8] in 1994. The title was advertised as "Plaster Anvil", but since Ken already had released a compilation cassette as "Plaster Anvil" (see Discogs) in the 1980s, the name was changed to "EsCaPe" in 2020 and a new cover was added for the page on Bandcamp. The master tape was a VHS cassette and there was no video synched for a video player to track, so the music was unobtainable from 1995 through 2020, when Ken found a SANYO deck that would play it (with manual tracking). The only glitch is at the end of the first track, so anyone with the original cassette tape may have a better version of "Teac Talk". ("Plaster Anvil" on cassette tape is limited to an edition of 10 copies.)

The first three songs reflect Ken's time in the Moore/Myers duo, and indeed, Wayne Myers does play guitar on "Teac Talk". After the third track, all the music was performed on Emu's Emax SE sampling keyboard using the Tascam 38 [1/2" tape] open reel 8-track sound reproducer. Along with the Emax, Ken plays ARP String Ensemble, Minimoog, Hammond M-2 organ, ARP Odyssey, marimba, and Ludwig drums on this album. This album is probably the only time Ken uses electronic percussion in his music, and it was all played by hand. (A sketchy version of "Happy Was The Man" does appear on "The Chess Kingdom" as a download only.)
