Brian Eno Yamaha DX7 Patches

   3 reviews  -  11733 views

This is a sweet find. From in the 1987 Keyboard Magazine interview with Brian Eno. We have a copy of the article page with four different DX7 Mk I (brownie) patches by the ambient master himself. The patch names appear to be indicative of the sounds they make. Get the sysex file that includes are: Kalimba 2, Tambora, Glide, and Violin 3 patches below.

NOTE: There is a new updated Sysex file in Standard VoiceBank format that should work better for most applications.

If you don't have an FM Synthesizer, try Dexed, it is FREE: https://asb2m10.github.io/dexed/

Hello,

I am quite new with the DX7s. Can anyone help me in loading this into a DX7s? Are even opening it in another program?

I tried to open the patches in Herr Mueller program, but it can not READ it...

all the best,

Maarten

To convert this file to a standard DX7 voice bank, extract 4104 bytes from address 0xAA.

GOOD catch. I have edited the original file, verified it is working and updated the download.

I'm trying to convert this for PX7, the DX emulation from the makers of Reason.

They have an online converter here: https://www.propellerheads.se/dx7-px7-converter/ but it tells me it's an invalid file. Any ideas on how I might reformat the sysex to whatever the converter is expecting?

Try it now with the Standard VoiceBank file I just added to the downloads. Seems to be working.

We updated the file to standard VoiceBank. Download it again and try it now.

Hello-I am new to this so please pardon me for wasting anyones time-but is there a way to open these files using ableton live 9 on a mac. I believe this is possible? Basically I am wondering how/if I can open them as midi through a converter etc?

Thanks for any help and thanks for posting these! They look amazing and I hope to use them!
