  3. 2012-03-01 - 5 years ago today my album "TIme" was released on the Free Floating music label. This has been one of my most noted recordings. Sincere thanks to Brad, and all you who have supported this endeavor. You don't know how much it means to me. read on.

    Time - Jack Hertz

That said, its worth sharing the real story behind this album - one that I have not shared with the public before. In September of 2012, I was all set to fly to the East Coast to play the Electro-Music fest, Sonic Circuits fest, and other shows. When just two days before. I found out my cat Boo had terminal Cancer. I was devastated. Not knowing how long we had left. I didn't want to give up 2 weeks on tour to be away from her, so cancelled everything. I work from home, so the next few months were spent with her 24/7. Doing everything I could to make things comfortable, knowing that another day was not guaranteed. In those last 2-3 months, the tracks for this album were recorded. Every one of them is about our "Time" we had left - Drawn from the intense despair, and love that I had for one of my closest friends. Her name was "Boo" and she was such a brave, darling, sweet cat, with a heavy proclivity for mischief. I once found her up in the tree in our backyard, hanging out with two Raccoons, if that tells you anything. I will share a photo in the comments below for you see her.

Please download a FREE (required) copy for yourself before "Time" passes by. Think of your loved ones when you listen, and be with them in the now, for me and for Boo.

This premiered in Paris last week at Goethe-Insitut and is now available to view for a short time. The long awaited Kickstarter project of making the full length bio of Tangerine Dream. I was able to put in an uninterrupted hour of viewing this morning. Its 59 minutes long and has some incredible unseen footage and stills of the band from the early days until the present. Most of my old TD buddies have never seen a lot of the sections and interviews from long ago. It opens with footage taken of Edgar's Artificial Head System experiment. The tables are turned if you don't know German you'll have to rely on the footage which is "terrific" subtitles would be helpful but I just wish I knew how to understand and speak German.

A longer version of the film is still in the works as well as the Kickstarter campaign. if you want to know more check it out here https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tangerine-dream/tangerine-dream-documentary

  11. Perception - you see, but how much ?

Visually, glasses impede vision. Do not be fooled by the very expensive illusion of vari-focal glasses, they are crap, they restrict vision to a paranoid memory, so they are as useful as visual impairment is. ...
Anyway, how much detail do you notice in anything. Obviously it depends how far away from it you are, relative to the detail of it. (Sound perception is limited in the same way). So therefore, perception of anything is limited to impressions formed from the activity of the senses. In music, there are only a certain number of things which can be perceived at once and most music therefore restricts itself to cohesive layering to help form a stronger impression than something, which whilst potentially brilliant in it's detail, the details fail to be perceived by the listener.
    Anyway, perceptions. Dwell
