Farfisa Soundmaker

The Farfisa Soundmaker is a late 1970's model ensemble type synthesizer released in 1979. Its more advanced than previous models of it's kind in that it also includes a monophonic analog synthesizer section. Additionally it has a string section and a polyphonic section offering presets of ensemble and string sounds.

The polyphonic preset synth section is limited in editing but it can be processed through the monophonic analog synthesizer's filter and can be switched to monophonic mode at the same time as using the analog synth should the player want to thicken up the sound. In addition to this feature there is monophonic aftertouch available at a fixed rate. The Soundmaker also has an envelope for the filter and amplifier sections and one LFO called "Osc" on the front panel.

All together the Soundmaker has 18 presets divided between sections. 13 for the mono synth, 4 for the polyphonic, and one for the string section. The monophonic section offers a "free" preset where the user can set the controls in any setting giving you a "user" preset of sorts. Presets are selected using LED buttons atop the keyboard. Splits can be made however only at a fixed point at middle F. The Strings and poly sections are played at the lower end and the mono synth at the upper end.
