GeneralMusic Promega 3

   0 reviews  -  3059 views

In 2002 GeneralMusic launched the ambitious and fabulous Promega 3 keyboard. The new era of keyboard technology that GeneralMusic was aiming for using the new DRAKE chip, is a combination of PCM wave rom and physical modelling.

The Sound Generation of Promega 3 consists of a mix of sampled sounds combined with physical modeling sounds. The sounds are divided into 4 sections (Pianos, vintage keys, orchestra / pads, bass / other), and has 15 reverbs and 15 other effects as well as 320 note polyphony.

Many of the piano sound aremade in real time by means of physical models and in particular the "Damper Physical Model" (developed in collaboration with the CSC of ' University of Padua ) that simulates the action of the damper pedal (sustain), the "Natural String Resonance" that reproduces the "resonator" for the open strings. The technology simulates the damping of the vibration of the strings and the reproduction of the complex harmonics and dynamics of the force with which the piano strings are struck.

The sounds of pianos Vintage Rhodes , Wurlitzer , Clavinet are generated entirely by a physical modelling which makes them much more expressive.

The Promega 3 has a vintage look with a nod to the 70s synths. It has a 88-key keyboard with hammer action and aftertouch . The front panel has five motorized faders, 2 normal faders, an 8 band equalizer with status LED and potentiometers and two digital displays. It also has volume controls for the stereo input channel, two for Pitch and Modulation Wheels, 6 potentiometers with LED position.

Software updates can be performed using the built in serial port on the unit's back side.
