Baloran The River Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer

    Description
    Lately, a Moog The Source has joined my small home studio: big, big thunderbolt: crazy :. A little maintenance and consultation of its schema propelled me into this new project.

    The Moog Source has a schema designed from the beginning for its numerical control, the components are theoretically findable, and for recalcitrants with reasonable approvals (like the E402, dual FET rarer than the Potassium Alginate), I count on My proto to validate a reliable and economical alternative.

    The objective is therefore to create 8 identical cards controlled by a CPU. The Source does not shine through modulation routing capabilities, so I've somewhat modified the schema. I keep the lfo analog by channel (miam, 8 lfo not necessarily synchro ...) and I add a common digital LFO for a channel + S & H + delay + Aftertouch + Velocity etc ... Both LFO can be dosed for VCOs and VCFs. I add the PWM to the analog LFO on the square wave. I make the noise common to all channels, but individual mixing for each channel. I add a feeback on the VCF and e fine tuning of the keyboard tracking on the filter.

    An ergonomic architecture makes it possible to manage the allocation of the channels. There are 8 channels and 8 channels. Each channel can be assigned to a channel. If several channels are assigned on a channel I deduce a polyphonic mode for these channels. So you can create a polyphonic 6-channel channel + 2 mono channels, or 8 mono channels, or a 4-channel poly channel + 4-channel unison channel, etc. Within a few seconds, each channel has a panning.

    The panel will always be active on the selected channel / channel. Independent paths can be loaded into each channel / channel. The glide is badly placed on the facade because it will be well independent for each channel / way.

    This is basically the bazaar, the PCB of the proto is drawn, the engraving thrown, and I should be able to begin the assembly of the first track in a fortnight.

    The facade will be the last project: the implantation noon is complete, initially I will pilot the proto with 11113.
    For the first one, for convenience, I plan a large expander version, so that it can easily be transposed into a keyboard cabinet.
    I also think about adding a ribbon or tactile area that could be assigned to the modulation gadget or aftertouch.

    Some thoughts to broaden the sound field of The River. I would like to test the addition of a Ring Modulator of OSC 1 and OSC 2 with the output available in the mixer. I did a few tests on the Yusynth, it's great. I tested the simple Fm of OSC 2 on OSC 1 or OSC2 on filter, it is much less usable than the ring modulator.
