    Description
In 1984 Roland released the GR-700 guitar synthesizer. The GR-700 is a 6 voice polyphonic hybrid synthesizer floor unit based on the Roland JX3P/MKS-30 architecture. It has two DCO's per voice, a low pass resonant filter, an envelope and LFO.

The unit also offers a new type of guitar controller. The G-707 with it's futuristic look and unusual shape with a stabilizer bar running along top the body and neck for more tracking stability. The G-707 is connected to the floor unit by way of Roland's proprietary 24 pin cable. The G-707 also has the divided pickup installed and can be used as a normal guitar separately or combined with the synth engine. Furthermore the G-707 can perform live edits with it's knobs and switches and control up to 32 parameters. Optionally the player can use Roland's previous guitar controllers as well.

The GR-700 has 64 patches of memory with 32 user memories available and MIDI out. Patch progrms can be expanded to an additional 64 programs using the M-16C memory cartridge. Deeper editing can only be done using Roland's PG-200 programmer like most if not all of Roland's synthesizers of that era.
