   0 reviews  -  1213 views

In 1986 Roland introduced the GR-77B Bass Guitar Synthesizer. Similar in style and function as the GR-700 guitar synthesizer, the GR-77B is a 4 voice pedal hybrid synthesizer unit based on the Roland JX-8P sound engine and has 4 processors. One for each string to facilitate fast tracking. The instrument also has two 4 stage envelope generators and cross modulation between oscillators, frequency modulation with envelope and/or modulation.

Additionally the GR-77B has a low pass filter with LFO, envelope and pitch modulation as well as a variable high pass filter. There is also an additional LFO for vibrato effects. The 11 built in foot switches can be used for programming the synthesizer or deeper program editing can be achieved using the optional PG-800 programmer. Moreover the GR-77B also features a MIDI out for control other synthesizers and equipment

The GR-77B also has it's own bass guitar controller. The GR-77 which features the same design and functionality as the GR-707 guitar controllers. Similar in shape like the G-707 the GR-77 controller has a stabilizer bar running across the entire body and neck to add more stability for tracking of notes across the fretboard.

The unit also has a lush analog chorus mode and features delectable pitch bend, hold and voices can be individually turned off for each string. Finally the GR-77 controller also functions as a traditional bass guitar and can be played by itself or combined with the GR-77B synthesizer.
