    Description
The Roland JX-1 is a performance oriented playback synth a minimum of editing controls featuring classic Roland D-50, U-20, and D70 sounds among it's collection. With it's 4 editing sliders for basic filter, amp, and effects level controls, the user could have partial realtime editing control over the sound. There are also two main sliders for volume and "brilliance" which was a filter control that offered to make the sound soft/dull to bright and cleaner.

Roland's popular joystick is also available onboard with pitch and modulation control. Also an unknown and way more useful feature is that all parts of the synthesizer engine are available via MIDI sysex. With proper software and editing hardware the user could dramatically create original sounds. However is order to save/store them the edits would have to be saved via software/hardware and later recalled through MIDI.
